The Vineyard at Florence is an enchanting, romantic wedding venue located only 45 minutes from Austin, TX. Earlier that week I had already captured Ruth & Thomas’s courthouse elopement in Georgetown, so I was super excited for their big wedding day with their beloveds friends and family! Ruth left the sweetest review of their experience working together:
“Mary has now done our engagement photos, elopement photos and formal wedding photos. My now husband was initially very shy in front of the camera, Mary knew this (because she asks all the right questions) and made him feel comfortable and our photos turned out amazing. We will continue to work with Mary on any photography needs we have because she is enjoyable to be around, takes amazing photos and makes use both feel so comfortable.”
This venue has the perfect suites for the bride and groom to prep in. Once Ruth & Thomas were ready, they had a first touch outside of the bridal suite. It was such a beautiful, emotional moment! I highly recommend first looks or first touches for couples. The feeling of anticipation pre-ceremony was palpable.
The ceremony took place outside underneath the venue’s old and beautiful oak trees. Even though it was March, it was still quite hot out, so we were all grateful to be shaded! The trees and vineyards made for a great backdrop and diffused the light of the sun beautifully.
Right after the ceremony, we gathered everyone at the wedding for a big group photo! Even as a primarily documentary photographer, I LOVE these group photos. They’re often couples’s faves. It’s not a purely “documentary” moment, but these shots are so fun and a great way to capture every single guest who witnessed your marriage. One of the biggest regrets I’ve heard from my married friends is that they didn’t get a big group photo of their wedding. So I’ll always be sure to work together with couples to discuss whether it’s something they’d like or not.
After the ceremony, everyone moved inside for the cocktail hour and the reception. The AC was blasting, drinks were flowing, and people mingled, many were meeting each other for the very first time! Ruth and Thomas made their grand entrance, had their first dance, and dinner began.
I was able to steal Ruth and Thomas for 30 minutes of bride and groom photos during sunset. It’s always worth it!
The rest of the night was filled with laughs, celebration, milk and cookies, and an epic bubbles departure!
