I’ve always wanted to capture an art gallery wedding and my wish came true!! I had the pleasure of capturing Dee and Pat’s wedding at The Cathedral ATX, a gorgeous 1930’s refurbished church in East Austin created by women artists and designers located just 5 minutes from downtown. I love its soaring vaulted ceilings, creamy white walls, and massive arched windows that flood the space with natural light. The walls are adorned with vibrant, contemporary art that made for an eclectic backdrop for the celebrations. And I had a lot of fun playing with flash to capture the bold, vibrant atmosphere. Pink Mink Stem‘s florals were the perfect touch!
Dee, Pat and I worked closely on timeline and shot list to find the right balance between posed and fly-on-the-wall photos to ensure they had all the time they wanted to soak up every moment. This group of wonderful humans was super fun-loving and kept the energy light and playful from start to finish – the wedding party and family formals were some of my faves! They created their own poses with their personal inside jokes woven in, making the photos unique to them and their story. Dee and Pat also created a beautiful Dia de los Muertos altar to honor their family lineages—a truly touching tribute in the heart of their celebration.
These sneak peeks are just a taste of what’s to come—the film scans are on their way, and I can’t wait for Dee and Pat to see all the magic we captured together!
