Drea is one of my dear friends, and was so excited when she was down to meet up at McKinney Falls (one of my FAVE shoot locations) for a photo sesh during the flower bloom season!
Zephyr arrived not necessarily thrilled about doing a photoshoot. And I want all families to know that this is totally normal and OK! Unlike adults, children don’t really fake or hide their emotions well. My approach is to let the kids do their thing and feel what their feeling, and they MAY eventually get into a more playful mood. This is what I love about a less posey, more documentary style with family sessions. You get to come out and play versus posing for staged photographs for an hour.
And, Drea has all her secret tricks to bribe her son into getting into a better mood! Once she uttered the word “boba”, Zephyr’s mood completely changed. We played tag, blew bubbles, and also sneaked in some gorgeous portraits of Drea for her own website and socials.
Being outside and having fun while taking photographs with families brings so much joy to my heart, and it’s an honor to capture such special moments like these for people!
